In the series of monotype prints, Anon, I have used, as source material, photographs shared with me by gay men, often from backgrounds similar to my own, living a closeted life.
The pictures are all taken within the relative safety and privacy of home, behind closed doors.
They are headless, often blurred and sometimes limbless torsos, which become almost like the dismembered statues of Greek antiquity - ideals of male beauty.
They represent a need to be both seen and desired within contemporary standards of acceptable' gay male masculinity and a necessity to be hidden, distant, anonymous.
